Over the past couple years, I have found myself exploring more mediums of art than ever before. One medium specifically always enticed me; watercolor was something I was never able to do. Everything always seemed to blend into one another, forming senseless piles of color and wash.
And so, I gave myself a project the summer of 2025: I was going to finally teach myself watercolor.
Despite the plans that had me busy for a full three months, I still wanted more than anything to learn how to paint with watercolors. I also wanted to avoid spending a lot of money, because I believed that the quality of art comes not from expense but from the artist herself.
With a simple and cheap mini watercolor palette from Winsor & Newton, a small 8 x 5.5 in sketchbook, and a couple of pens, I decided to task myself with painting as I travelled, hoping to be inspired by everything around me.
